The Institute of Mathematics Research and Training (IMRT)

The Institute of Mathematics Research and Training(IMRT) is aimed at encouraging and promoting facilities for fundamental research in the various branches of mathematical sciences including pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, computer sciences, information technology, theoretical physics and other related sciences. IMRT also envisages

  • Organizing workshops in collaboration with colleges
  • Conducting educational and training programmes
  • Undertaking contract research activities
  • Encouraging cooperation with universities
  • Sponsoring research in mathematical science


  1. Organizing workshops in collaboration with colleges offering M.Sc. programme in Mathematics for improving mathematics education and orienting to research activities. developing the application of mathematical models to the study of problems in areas such as Economics, Engineering, Sociology, Demography, Biology, Medicine etc.
  2. Conducting educational and training programmes including seminars, conferences, symposia, short term and long term courses for both teachers and students of schools, colleges and universities.
  3. Undertaking contract research activities for governmental agencies, financial institutions, industrial enterprises, public and private agencies and promote publications of research papers, monographs, books, periodicals and other publications covering the various aspects of mathematical sciences and their applications.
  4. Encouraging cooperation with universities, research and para-research organizations, governmental and other agencies in promoting and running programmes in mathematical sciences and their applications.
  5. Sponsoring research in all areas of mathematical sciences and their applications by academic and research institutes and individuals selected by the Institute and support such research financially and otherwise.


Vision & Mission

Creating an international centre of excellence in mathematical sciences which will also act as a catalyst for the planned economic development of the Society which is a need of the time.



Governing Body

The Management and control of the Institute shall be entrusted to the Governing Body and shall be carried out in accordance with the rules and bye-laws.

The Governing Body shall consist of the following:

  1. Chairman
  2. Director
  3. Two Associate Directors
  4. Secretary
  5. Joint secretary
  6. Treasurer
  7. Seven members duly elected by the General Body



Membership

The membership of the Institute shall not be restricted for sex, nationality, race, religion, caste or creed. The Institute shall have the following classes of members :

(a) Honorary Members

(b) Life Members

(c) Associate Members


Honorary Members : These shall be distinguished personalities invited by the Governing Body of the institute as honorary members.

Life Members: All the signatories of this memorandum of association shall be life members. Maximum number of life members is limited to 20. Any person who desires to become a life member of the institute shall make an application which shall be supported by two members. A new life member will be inducted with the endorsement of his application by a two-third majority of the governing body. Any person having outstanding contribution to any discipline shall be considered for the life membership by the Governing Body.

Associate Members : Anyone who is engaged in research , teaching or equivalent activities in mathematics and related sciences can make an application for associate membership in the Institute. The governing body shall consider such applications and on its approval the person shall be admitted as an associate member. The term of the associate membership will be decided by the Governing Body from time to time.


Membership Fees:

No membership fee for honorary members. At the time of admission life members and associate members have to remit the membership fee prescribed by the general body from time to time.

All Members except Honorary members have the right to vote, if present, at the general body meeting. The Institute shall not distribute any part of its income or profit as dividend, gift or bonus or in any other way among its members, provided nevertheless that office bearers, workers and other employees shall not be debarred from receiving remuneration or participating in grants because of their also being members of the Institute.
